Construction of the Ore Crushing Building Is Completed at Udokan

At the construction site of the Udokan mining and metallurgical plant, the installation of wall panels and a roof on the crushing body has been completed.

After the primary crushing of ore mined at the Zapadny open pit, its fractions less than 300 mm in size will be fed to the crushing unit via belt conveyors. The six mills installed in the building will crush ore to particles with a size of less than 170 microns for subsequent transfer to the flotation line.

As the General Director of the Baikal Mining Company German Mironov noted: "Until the end of November, the general contractor for the construction, Renaissance Heavy Industries, shall ensure the closure of the thermal envelope at another building - the flotation area." According to him, at present, the builders have started assembling metal structures at the ore warehouse, and also assembled one tenth of the structures of the liquid extraction building at the future hydrometallurgical plant.

“The main feature of the Project is the high pace and tight deadlines for work - 50 months and the simultaneous construction of transport, social, energy infrastructure and technological facilities,” said G. Mironov. In particular, in addition to the transformer substation "Udokan MMP" built in 2019, substation "Bluzhdayushiy" with a capacity of 146 MW is currently under construction. The workers already installed two of three power transformers with a capacity of 100 megawatts, as well as the necessary attachments.

In addition, the construction of the second branch of high-voltage transmission line, an access road are nearing completion in Udokan; the construction of rotational camp, the boiler house and a number of other engineering and process facilities is underway.

More than 2.5 thousand people are engaged on-site.
