A most powerful transformer has been delivered to Udokan site to provide power for mining and processing

A 100MW transformer of over 130 tons has been delivered from Novaya Chara railroad station to the “Bluzhdayuschy” substation construction site.

As was noted by German Mironov, General Director of BMC LLC: “The works for assembly and installation of the power supply equipment and accessories shall be completed within one month”. According to him, a total of three transformers shall be engaged in the second 146MW power generating unit — substation “Bluzhdayuschy”, which will allow for an exhaustive supply of electric power to the plant after it is commissioned.

As of today, the equipment foundations have been completed on the “Bluzhdayuschy” sub site, and erection of the outdoor switchgear (OSG) steel structures is at full speed. OSG portals are being erected, as well as 220kV static capacitor banks, circuit breakers, 220kV surge arresters, etc.

Works are being completed to erect the posts for and lay the cable of the second HV overhead line (double circuit) over a distance of 23 km from the 220kV substation in Novaya Chara to “Bluzhdayuschy” site. The plan is to complete these works before end of November of 2020.

At the same time, the works have already been completed at the “Udokan MMP” substation to install transformers, switching equipment, and the second transformer commissioning and start-up works are underway. The power of the substation is 50MW.

This substation is currently supplying sufficient power for construction of the processing complex of the plant and all infrastructure facilities.
